Live scorecard and ball-by-ball details
The qualifying phase of the Champions League Twenty20 2011 kicked off with a low-key match between Sri Lanka's champions Ruhuna and Trinidad & Tobago in Hyderabad. Ruhuna won the toss and chose to bat on a track that is expected to have good bounce and has some grass on it to interest the fast bowlers. Their captain Mahela Udawatte said they were targetting a score of around 150-160.
This is Ruhuna's first appearance in the tournament, unlike T&T who made the world sit up with their exhilarating performances in the 2009 edition. Most of those highs came in Hyderabad, a city which their captain Daren Ganga said holds a lot of pleasant memories for them. Most of the squad this time is similar to the 2009 one, but they are missing their two biggest stars - Kieron Pollard and Dwayne Bravo.
Much of the spotlight in Ruhuna's build-up has been around 42-year-old Sanath Jayasuriya and one of their most exciting young batsmen, Dinesh Chandimal.
Ruhuna: Sanath Jayasuriya, TN Sampath, Mahela Udawatte (capt), Chinthaka Perera, Amal Athulathmudali, Dinesh Chandimal, Milinda Siriwardana, Janaka Gunaratne, Shalika Karunanayake, Kushal Perera (wk), Arosh Janoda.
Trinidad & Tobago: Adrian Barath, Lendl Simmons, Darren Bravo, Jason Mohammed, Daren Ganga (capt), Denesh Ramdin (wk), Sherwin Ganga, Kevon Cooper, Samuel Badree, Sunil Narine, Ravi Rampaul.
